Helmut Lachemann
It is a great honor for us to welcome Helmut Lachenmann as Composer in Residence of the Berliner Klavierfesttage. Lachenmann is regarded as one of the most important figures in contemporary music and has profoundly shaped modern musical thought through his consistent and radically expanded approach to sound. His works are characterized by a fundamental redefinition of the concept of sound and invite a conscious, new way of listening. The piano also plays a special role in his oeuvre: in several compositions, Lachenmann explores the instrument’s sonic possibilities in innovative ways. This close relationship with the piano also forms the starting point for a special concert planned as part of the 2027 edition of the Berliner Klavierfesttage, developed in close collaboration with Helmut Lachenmann and devoted exclusively to his piano music.
