Beethoven 200 – A Concert Marathon
Part II: Piano Sonatas Nos. 17–32
To commemorate the 200th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven’s death, the Berliner Klavierfesttage present an extraordinary musical undertaking: all 32 piano sonatas performed in chronological order across two monumental concert days, each lasting approximately seven hours, including intermissions.
Audiences are invited to immerse themselves in Beethoven’s musical world and experience the remarkable evolution of his genius, from the brilliance of his early compositions to the profound expression of his final masterpieces. Twenty outstanding pianists from around the world, uniting exceptional young talents with internationally renowned artists and distinguished professors, will bring together generations, musical traditions, and artistic perspectives in a celebration of one of classical music’s greatest legacies.
Part II of this extraordinary marathon continues the journey through Beethoven’s musical universe, presenting Piano Sonatas Nos. 17–32, including some of his most celebrated and visionary masterpieces. From the dramatic intensity of the Tempest and the passionate brilliance of the Appassionata to the profound musical reflections of his final sonatas, this concluding chapter reveals the extraordinary depth and evolution of Beethoven’s artistic imagination.
To allow audiences to experience this musical journey at their own pace, a short interval will follow each sonata, offering the opportunity to enter or leave the concert hall between performances. Visitors are welcome to enjoy the entire marathon or attend individual parts of the programme.
Tickets will be available here on our website from January 1, 2027.
