Artistic Director

Yossi Reshef

The Berliner Klavierfesttage is the brainchild of the outstanding pianist and pedagogue Dr. Yossi Reshef. Initially founded in 2017 as an innovative solo Masterclass project (Berlin International Piano Masterclass), it immediately drew the attention of high level students from around the globe who have arrived in Berlin annually since then to perform in a variety of venues there.

Such has been its success and recognition that Reshef has now taken the bold step of moving this project to its next stage – the Berliner Klavierfesttage 2025 – where it will have a much broader outreach and diverse program for not only aspiring pianists, but also for renowned artists from all over the world.

Born in Israel, Reshef studied with the legendary Pnina Salzman, he later moved to Los Angeles where he completed his doctorate with prof. Norman Krieger, serving as his assistant, as well as completing conducting studies with outstanding achievements and performing internationally. Reshef has given solo concerts, recitals and concerto performances throughout Europe, the United States (including Carnegie Hall) the Far East, India and Africa to outstanding reviews and audience enthusiasm.  He has also given master classes in such prestigious venues as the Gnessin Conservatory in Moscow, the Lodz Academy in Poland, the Baku Academy in Azerbaijan, the Zagreb Academy in Croatia, and in all the leading higher education music institutes of South Africa and Taiwan. He is also a faculty member at the prestigious Tel-Hai international Piano Master Classes in Israel.

It is due to the success of these international masterclasses that Reshef created the Berliner Klavierfesttage in order to further facilitate outstanding young pianists in their careers – and to bring their talent and brilliance to Berlin.

“I believe that public masterclasses are fundamental to the professional growth of the next generation of pianists and it has been my life long dream to create this exciting opportunity to give young artists the opportunity to work with the world’s leading piano teachers in this most important venue in Berlin, the Capital of Culture.”

Reshef lives in Berlin where he has a private studio, attracting students from Europe and the far East who come to prepare for auditions and competitions. He has inspired hundreds of students in his public masterclasses and this major musical step will see him creating opportunities for hundreds, if not thousands, more.

Reshef is also the winner of numerous prizes and awards including the America Israel Cultural Foundation Excellency scholarship award; the Zilbermann first prize award for the best interpretation of Israeli piano music; the second prize in the Rubin Academy Competition; the Apple Hill Playing for Peace Scholarship; the Tel Aviv University Dean’s Excellency Award; the John Tesh Scholar; the Adele Marcus Foundation Music Scholarship; the John Green Endowed Music Scholarship; the David Nowakowsky Music Scholarship; the Alice Ray Catalyne Music scholarship in piano; the Michael Feinstein music scholarship and the Ann and Gordon Getty Music Foundation Scholarship.
